AI remixed version of a protest song, written in February 2017, after the inauguration of Donald Trump in his first term as president of the United States.
At the time, I didn’t realize that the specter I already sensed back then would not be over after four years, but that the monstrous threat would return in 2024/25 with renewed, criminal energy.
As a result, the song has lost none of its relevance. Worse still, with his unabashed hunger for power, Trump continues his aggressive style of governance, driven by boundless greed. In doing so, he sets new standards for authoritarian rulers worldwide and, through his erratic behavior, triggers a dangerous escalation of violence. If the fool on his hill cannot be removed, then we must move the hill!
SUMMARY
The song reflects on a growing darkness in the world, fueled by misguided, irrational leaders—“fools on hills”—whose lies and misuse of power create division and fear. It criticizes hatred, warns against giving authority to those unfit to wield it, and laments that old barriers are being rebuilt in new places.
